1880s Corset

  • University coursework: Technical unit

  • Learning to draft a historical corset from a basic block.

  • While not mandatory, I chose to make mine as historical as possible, using antique handmade lace and creating a delicate flossing design which I did by hand and I am extremely proud of as I’ve always been fascinated by this detail in corsets from this time period.

  • Top silk fabric was repurposed from scraps, so attention to how the pattern was laid out was essential.
