Lucy Westenra Costume

  • Date created: September-October 2025

  • Personal project: Recreating Lucy Westenra’s wedding dress from “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” (1992). Costume design by Eiko Ishioka.

  • The headpiece is made from masking tape and wire covered in fabric. The ruffles have been stiffened to hold their shape.

  • The collar was made as a separate piece from curtain lace. Wire was sewn on each side of each individual scallop section and then they were connected together to achieve the structured look. Pearls and rhinestones were individually placed on the lace. The collar can also be worn popped up, as seen in the film on Lucy before her transformation.

  • The geometric design on the sleeves and front of the dress was individually drawn out by hand with pearlescent puffy paint (as a substitute for embroidery), recreating the design on the original costume as closely as possible.

  • All fabrics used were repurposed and secondhand.
