Paper sculpture inspired by Romanian folk costume

  • Date created: May 2024

  • Foundation University Project: Final piece showcasing the story behind the rich Romanian folk costumes, traditions, and stories.

  • Every single piece in this sculpture is recycled, from the scrap paper sheets of A-level revision notes to the tassels I made from plastic shopping bags.

  • I also wanted to showcase the versatility of paper and used a wide range of techniques to mould and shape it, all combining traditional Romanian patterns, colours and weaving techniques.

  • This sculpture was accompanied by a poster talking about the symbolism of each element within it.
